Frequently asked questions
Pricing, scheduling, insurance, packing, storage and moving day itself. If your question isn’t answered here, call (833) 321-0399 — we’d rather explain it now than have you guess.
Pricing & quotes
Local moves in the Dallas area are priced hourly. The rate depends on how many movers and what size truck the job needs, and the total depends on how long it realistically takes — a studio apartment might run two to three hours, while a three-bedroom house is usually a full day with a larger crew. Long distance moves are priced as a flat rate based on the weight of your shipment and the mileage.
Whichever applies to you, we put the number in writing before you book, including travel time and any materials, so there’s nothing left to discover on move day.
Estimates are always free and there’s no deposit required just to get a price. Call or send the quote form with your addresses, rough inventory and date, and we’ll send a written estimate — usually the same day.
It means every chargeable item appears on your estimate before you agree to anything: travel time, crew size, truck, materials, stairs, long carries and heavy or specialty items. We don’t add fuel surcharges, “wrapping fees” or equipment charges at the end of the day. If the scope of the job changes because you added items or the access is different than described, we tell you what it changes before we keep working — never after.
All standard payment methods are accepted. Payment is taken once the move is complete and you’ve walked through and signed off.
Any date-based difference in rate is shown on your quote up front. The last weekend of the month and the first few days of a new month are the busiest windows in DFW, so those slots go fastest — booking two to three weeks ahead is the surest way to get the date and time you want.
Booking & scheduling
Two to three weeks is comfortable for most residential moves. Summer, month-end and the first of the month fill up first. That said, we hold slots for short-notice jobs, so if you’re moving this week it’s still worth calling — we can often cover it.
Yes. Legend Movers is fully licensed and insured for moves in Texas. Coverage details are available on request, and we can issue a certificate of insurance naming your building, landlord or HOA at no charge.
Yes, and it’s free. Send us the property manager’s contact details and any specific wording they require when you book. Most high-rises and managed communities in Dallas, Plano and Frisco won’t reserve an elevator without one, so tell us early and we’ll get it filed ahead of your date.
Closings slip all the time — just call us as soon as you know. We’ll move your booking to the next available slot that works for you. The earlier you tell us, the better the chance of keeping your preferred day of the week.
We answer the phone and run moves seven days a week, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Office and commercial relocations can also be scheduled outside those hours when a business needs to keep trading during the day.
Moving day
Every truck carries moving blankets, shrink wrap, straps, dollies, hand tools, floor runners and door jamb protection as standard. Mattress bags, TV cartons, wardrobe boxes and packing supplies are available too — those go on your estimate if you want us to supply them.
Yes, and it’s part of the job, not an extra. Beds, bunk beds, dining tables, cribs, desks and shelving come apart before loading and go back together at the new place. Hardware is bagged and labeled per item so nothing goes missing.
For safety and legal reasons we can’t transport hazardous materials — propane tanks, gasoline, paint thinner, aerosols, ammunition, fireworks or similar. We also recommend you personally carry jewelry, cash, medication, passports and irreplaceable documents. Everything else, from pianos to gun safes to garage contents, we can usually handle with the right equipment.
It’s never expected and never added to your bill. If a crew did a great job and you’d like to, it’s genuinely appreciated — and so is a Google review, which helps a small local company more than most people realize.
Packing, storage & long distance
We do — full packing for the whole home, or partial packing where we handle just the kitchen, artwork, electronics and other breakables and you do the rest. Unpacking service is available at the other end, including flattening and hauling away the empty boxes.
Yes. Specialty items need the right equipment and enough people, so tell us about them when you request your quote — including the type of piano and whether there are stairs at either end. They’re priced into the estimate up front rather than surprising you on the day.
That’s what our moving and storage service is for. We load your belongings, hold them in clean short- or long-term storage, and redeliver when you’re ready. It stays on one inventory list with one company, so nothing gets handed off and lost between vendors.
It depends on distance. Dallas to Houston, Austin or San Antonio is normally next-day or same-week. Out-of-state deliveries are quoted with a delivery window when you book, and we keep you updated while your shipment is in transit rather than leaving you to guess.
We’re based in Dallas and move throughout the metroplex, including Plano, Irving, Garland, Frisco, McKinney, Arlington, Fort Worth, Denton, Carrollton, Richardson, Mesquite, Grand Prairie, Lewisville and Allen. Long distance moves go statewide and beyond. If you don’t see your city, call — we probably cover it.
Call and talk it through with the person who would price your move. No script, no call centre.
